1408 e2campus Alerts Delayed by Verizon Wireless Maintenance
Scheduled Change: Verizon maintenance will likely delay text messages and may impact the ASU emergency alert system.
Verizon Wireless will be performing SMPP application upgrades on 5/21/2009 into the morning of 5/22/2009. This maintenance will likely impact SMS delivery to Verizon Wireless subscribers. All other Omnilert Network Services will remain online during this time.
During the maintenance period, we are told to expect latency on delivering the messages through Verizon Wireless.
This maintenance is conducted by Verizon Wireless and only affects messages sent to Verizon Wireless subscribers. No other carriers will be affected.

1403 Blackboard (LMS) – Upgrade Wimba building block
Scheduled Change: The Wimba module in Blackboard 8 will be upgraded to Wimba Voice version 5.3.1 maintenance level 3.3.1. Wimba supports synchronous and asynchronous presentation capabilities. The new version will address issues reported by instructors and students using Wimba navigation. It will also provide improved capabilities for those with visual impairment. This upgrade will not require an outage and will occur during the semester break to avoid conflicts with instruction.
Prior to implementation the new maintenance level will be tested in the development environment.

1394 Wireless Maintenance - Downtown Phoenix Campus, SkySong, Polytechnic and Tempe Residence Halls
Scheduled Change: ASU plans to perform maintenance on the wireless network at the following Campuses: Downtown Phoenix Campus, SkySong, Polytechnic and Tempe Residence Halls between 4:00am and 7:00am. ASU expects the maintenance to cause rolling brief outages of the wireless network in these locations. However, outages and intermittent performance issues may occur on the wireless network in these locations throughout the duration of the maintenance window.
During this planned outage, ASU will be upgrading the firmware on all wireless access points and associated controllers, in the Downtown Phoenix Campus, SkySong, Polytechnic and in the Residence Halls on the Tempe campus.
The wired network will remain operational during this outage.
Risks associated with this outage include the possibility that the wireless network may be unavailable during the entire outage window.

1379 Web Migration - JAM
Scheduled Change: Updates to the JAM tool on webapp4 will be migrated to production. JAM is the tool used to manage web applications in the enterprise environments (Java/Tomcat, Websphere 5&6, MS.NET, and PHP) and is primarily used by developers & project managers.
Two major updates to JAM are happening:
* Requests for PROD migrations will require a CMT URL to be included
in the request. This change will mean that all migrations affecting
production will need to go through the UTO Change Management process.
* Requests for new enterprise web application project space will require
a UTOLabs URL to be included in the request. This change will mean
that new projects will need to have a UTOLabs project on the books.

1356 AZTE Mail Server Migration
Scheduled Change: UTO will be migrating the following mail servers, epo-azte and epo-azte2 (azte.com hosted mail servers), to a new XEN server host. The current XEN server host it is running on is scheduled to be retired. Servers are redundant and will be migrated one-at-a-time, no user impact.

1357 Email spam filter updates
Scheduled Change: UTO will be upgrading the firmware on the Email Spam filter appliances (4) to the latest release (3.5.12.012). Numerous bug fixes and performance are incorporated into this upgrade and has been recommended to us by the vendor. The appliances are redundant and will be updated one-at-a-time, no user impact.

1290 WEB - Upgrade web servers on WWWHA farm (Colorado)
Scheduled Change: The web server software on the WWWHA farm will be upgraded to Apache/2.2.11 (latest release). The WWWHA farm is located in Colorado and is redundant with the WWW farm in Tempe so no impact to users is expected during the upgrade.

1298 Advantage Financial System re-hosting to the Department of Administration
Scheduled Change: The Advantage Financial system will be moved to, and hosted at, the Arizona Department of Administration (ADOA) Data Center. To facilitate the data migrations and system testing, the Advantage system will be unavailable starting at 6pm Friday with an anticipated completion time and system availability by 9am Sunday May 24th. This move should be seamless from the client perspective requiring no immediate changes in order to resume access to the advantage system. (securemote and sslvpn will both be operational).
As a result of this outage the Financial and Sponsored data warehouse on enterprise1 will not be refreshed the evening of Friday May 22. EPM tables FW_ACCOUNT and FW_APPROPRIATION_TRANSACTION which are data sourced from the Financial warehouse will also remain un-refreshed. These warehouse tables will be refreshed after Advantage is again available and the overnight warehouse load processes have completed. Expected completion time for all Advantage dependant warehouse refreshes is also by 9am Sunday May 24th.
In the event unexpected issues are encountered that may delay the projected delivery times for the Advantage Financial system and Warehouse refreshes we will be updating the system health page on a regular basis for anyone interested in tracking the progress. 1386 Help.asu.edu - Update to Drupal 6.12
Scheduled Change: UTO will be upgrading the version of Drupal that the Help Center is running to 6.12. The upgrade addresses some security issues in the current version.
During this time, the Help Center will be unavailable.

1393 Drupal - Reboot xenprod2 and xenprod3 (Webhost10 & Webhost20)
Scheduled Change: XenProd2 and XenProd3 will be rebooted at 9pm to fix erroneous error messages showing up in the log from old ISCSI disks no longer attached to these systems. As a result Drupal sites resident on webhost10 and webhost20 will become unavailable between 9pm and midnight.
Adrian Teo's group has been notified and they will notify the impacted web hosted customers. The sites impacted are included as attachments and are viewable in the change management blog for this change request.

1398 MyApps - Windows Update for SMB
Scheduled Change: A Windows Hotfix will be applied to the servers in the MyApps Citrix environment to update support of SMB for the AFS Client. The upgrade will begin at 9pm and is estimated to take ~5hrs to apply to all hosts in the Citrix farm. Each redundant host will be upgraded individually in an offline mode in order to minimize any service impacts.

1410 Network – Connectivity between Engineering Center A-wing and Interdisciplinary Science and Technology I
Scheduled Change: During this planned maintenance, ASU will be installing new fiber optic and copper connections from the ECA Data Center to the ISTB1 Data Center. These new connections will support future firewall diversity.
No disruption of service is expected as a result of this maintenance.

1262 Disk Filer - Upgrade of ITFS1/VID3020 Operating System
Scheduled Change: OS patches will be applied to itfs1/vid3020 disk filers to support a de-duplication feature not available on the current OS version. The upgrade will begin at 9pm Friday and is estimated to be completed by 11pm. During this time customers utilizing the itfs1 CIFS share may experience intermittent service disruptions while attempting to access their data.
There is a possibility the following servers/services may be impacted as well:
• ACADDB2 (Used for Oracle class)
• IDEAL (Customer notified and approved)
• Lists
• SharePoint
• SQL admin (server used by sql DBAs for management)
• Video Farm
• Speedtest1/2
• ASUPRINT1 (print spooler for Tempe campus)
• WEBHOST30 (web hosting for direct admin / drupal sites)

1324 Database - Add Memory to Oracle database server (oraprod1) - Rescheduled
Scheduled Change: The Oracle database server, Oraprod1, will be unavailable beginning at 9PM Friday, May 22nd for approximately 6 hours in order to increase memory capacity. This is a rescheduled request that was previously backed out due to a configuration problem. The 6 hour window is precautionary to accommodate troubleshooting in the event any issues are encountered. If all goes well the system/services will be returned to available status as soon as possible.
The following services will be unavailable as a result of this outage:
· Coeus Research Administrative System.
· Corda Dashboard Services.
· ControlD - This is a new version deployment not yet available for customer usage.
· Degree Audit Reporting System(DARS), Students/Advisors will not be able to submit advising audits.
· Emergency Alerts system access will be suspended inhibiting the ability to subscribe or make account changes.
· MyReports (Hyperion) Data Warehouse reporting.
· MyASU will have limited functionality. Key applications that will not be available include Course Catalog; Degree Search and Major Maps.
· Parking application and website will be unavailable to submit payments for Parking charges, permit renewals or to view parking records.
· Replication database, PSREPPRD, will be unavailable. Applications that use this data source include the orientation website for incoming students and the undergraduate and graduate admissions applications.
· Residential Life application which supports ongoing operations in the residence halls.

1325 Blackboard (LMS) - Add Memory to Blackboard Database server
Scheduled Change: The Blackboard LMS system will be unavailable beginning at 9pm Friday in order to increase memory capacity on the database host. The estimated time to complete this work is 3-4 hours.
Originally this maintenance window was scheduled to apply Oracle database security patches which has been deferred until a later date.
This outage is scheduled to occur during the break following the spring semester to lessen impact on instruction.

1185 Network - Implement geographically diverse active/passive firewalls at the Internet border
Scheduled Change: ASU will implement active/passive firewalls in diverse locations and test failover of the ASU Internet border. This will cause intermittent access disruptions for the ASU enterprise network to Internet 1 and Internet 2. We do not expect access to be unavailable for the entire outage window, but network access will be disrupted intermittently during the changes and subsequent testing.
This change is a result of the Fault Tolerant Internet Version 1.0 "Geographic Diversity" Project

Scheduled Change: The PeopleSoft Production HRSA, CRM, and EPM systems will be unavailable beginning 10pm Sunday evening until 3am Monday morning May 25th for scheduled maintenance. During this time the following services will be impacted.
• Administrative functions for admissions, student records, student financials, talent acquisition manager, payroll, employee benefits and Human Resources.
• MyASU service links to PeopleSoft.
• Degree Audit Reporting (DARS).
• Effort Reporting.
• Search staff postings (ASU Jobs).
• Scheduled processes will be held.
• CRM Support for case creation/reporting.
